Toolkit

This toolkit was created to help community organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador who want to start a community garden. It lists the key steps to starting a garden, and offers a range of tools, tips, and supports to help along the way.

The toolkit is based on research on best practices for community gardens. To gather these best practices, we reviewed reports, resource, and guides on community gardens across North America. Special attention was paid to those resources from Newfoundland and Labrador. The bibliography at the end of this guide lists the materials that were viewed in making this toolkit. This review was added to by conversations with community garden organizers across Newfoundland and Labrador.
